After posting a letter to her grandmother, Dulcina has startling and beautiful visions of a mysterious forest while she walks to school in her newest red dress. Dulcina appears vague and distracted when asked by her teachers why she has flowers in her hair and keeps saying "groovy" and "far out".In a flashback we learn that Dulcina has inadvertently taken a consciousness expanding chemical, thinking it was a tablet for the lupus from which she suffers. As her visions become increasingly realistic, she learns the key to inner peace. This occurs while she is in the bathroom dealing with the diarrhoea brought on by the drug.At school she meets up with her friends, Levi and Evlyn, who are both madly in love with her. Together they decide to go on an adventure to the seedy part of town, where they plan to rob "Crankcase Carl" a biker with a large supply of magic crystal. Their adventures on the way include meeting a series of bizarre characters, each one introduced as Dulcina reads the Ginsberg masterpiece, "Howl" .Finally reaching y, she is approached by the school's bad boy "Cranky Craig" who introduces her to magic crystals and the writings of Allen Ginsberg, including the magnificent "Howl". While being almost torn apart by madness, the three reach Carl's place only to be confronted by Vic "Howling Wolf", a struggling musician who is furious at being interrupted while he was busy cooking up his next hit.A stream of profane threats scares off Levi and EVLYN, while Dulcina continues her adventure in the broken down shack where Carl and Viv live. The drama that ensues Dulcina realises that to survive this latest challenge she must huff from a special paper bag and blow Vic, the Big Bad Wolf to find t answers. but is it all too late in her fantastic journey of karmic discovery? |
